Case studies of women receiving the domestic purposes benefit who have undisclosed de facto relationships. Starts with the claim that the administration of Section 74(b) of the Social Security Act 1964 had been a problem area for all classes of benefit and describes the women included in DPBs as ‘many whose morals are suspect or could even be amoral’. Domestic situations arise where separated or unmarried mothers take a de facto husband which causes the Commission to cancel the benefit until the man leaves the home. Document argues the Department has few means and little authority to deal with these situations adequately.
